On July 23rd, 2018 at approximately 11:00 am, Aberdeen Police CHief Shumate says "I had the pleasure of swearing-in the newest member of the Aberdeen Police Department". Jesus Martinez-Lopez, a 27-year old from Hoquiam, joined the ranks as an entry level police officer. Jesus was a Police Services Officer (PSO) with the Hoquiam Police Department and came to our agency widely regarded by Hoquiam Police Chief Jeff Myers. Officer Martinez was known not only for his exceptional performance with Hoquiam PD, but also for his strong work ethic and dedication to helping others. Officer Martinez brings to our agency an ability to communicate with our Spanish speaking community. APD did not currently have someone with that ability.

Officer Martinez is expected to attend the Washington State Criminal Justice Training Center in Burien, WA sometime this winter. We anticipate Officer Martinez will be working the streets of Aberdeen by the summer of 2019.

Aberdeen Police Chief Shumate only on the job for a week has now had a chance to swear in his first new officer, Jesus Martinez-Lope on Monday, July 23rd.
