Sheriffs Department Reports 2 Shooting Incidents This week.

Chief Criminal Deputy Schrader with the Grays Harbor County Sheriffs office says that Deputies responded to and have investigated 2 seperate shooting incidents this week where the suspects were known to the victims. 

On Sunday 5-9-21 at 0311 hours, deputies from the Grays Harbor County Sheriff’s Office were dispatch to a shooting that had just occurred in the Grayland area.  A 30-year-old Grayland resident reported that two subjects had just came into her residence and one of the subjects had fired multiple rounds in the residence before leaving the scene in an unknown vehicle.

 Deputies responded and requested assistance from the Westport Police Department.  GHSO Deputies and WPD Officers arrived on scene and located evidence of the reported shooting. A dog was struck by one of the bullets and suffered non-life threatening injuries.   

Detectives from the Grays Harbor County Sheriff’s Office were called to the scene to assist in the investigation.   During interviews of the victims it was reported that the suspects were known to the victims.  The suspects were identified and the victims alleged that the incident occurred because of a disagreement over a recently purchased vehicle that the victims bought from the suspects.  The reporting party was at her home with her 32 year old boyfriend and his 14 and 9 year old children.  The suspects have been identified and the Sheriff’s Office is attempting to locate them. 

On 5-11-21 Tuesday, deputies from the Grays Harbor County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Oakville area to assist Chehalis Tribal Police with a shooting that had just occurred on the Chehalis reservation. 

A 36-year-old Oakville man reported that a 39-year-old Oakville man that was known by the victim had just kicked in the victim's door and fired a round outside of the residence before leaving in a vehicle.  Deputies and Chehalis Tribal Officers investigated the incident that was reported to have started because the suspect thought the victim had stolen items from him. 

The suspect was later located by Chehalis Tribal Officers and taken into custody without incident.
