On 08/01/24 at about 4:35 PM Grays Harbor County Deputies responded to Sterling’s Landing off of Devonshire Road near Montesano for a reported shooting. Dispatch received multiple calls reporting this incident shortly after it occurred. Upon arrival, deputies located several of the subjects involved and numerous witnesses. Other subjects involved had traveled to The Summit Pacific Medical Center with one adult male. The male, who is approximately 40 years of age, had been shot once in the mid-section of his body. That subject was later flown via Life Flight to the Harborview Medical Center in Seattle for additional treatment. At the time of this release the subject’s condition was listed as stable.

The mother of the person that was shot, Michelle Phillips-Pinson said this on the Grays Harbor Scanner Social Media Incident thread - "Thank you everyone for your amazing prayers. He's got a long road to recovery, but he's alive Thank God! They still haven't removed the bullet at this time. He's stable and alert. He has 2 broken ribs, and a grazed spleen. The surgeon said he was very fortunate the bullet missed his vital organs. Please continue to pray for our son and please pray for the young boy that shot him. Thank you again 💓 🙏🙏🙏"

During the investigation, Deputies obtained information that the shooting was a result of a previous dispute involving subjects from several groups who were at the river landing. The weapon used in this incident has been recovered and this investigation is ongoing.
