Traffic Stop In Aberdeen Leads to Drug Arrest For Trafficking Narcotics

The Aberdeen Police Department says that On October 22, 2024, an Aberdeen Police Officer stopped a Ford Focus in the 2300 block of Simpson Avenue for several traffic violations. The driver, a 54-year-old Aberdeen resident, was identified and found to have a Suspended/Revoked First Degree driving status. The driver was arrested and booked into the Aberdeen City Jail for driving on a revoked license and for operating a motor vehicle without an ignition interlock.

While preparing the vehicle for impound, the arresting officer noticed suspected illicit drugs inside. The vehicle was then impounded and transported to the Aberdeen Police Department, pending a search warrant. Once the search warrant was granted, the vehicle was searched, revealing scales, notes indicating drug sales, and over 600 grams of suspected methamphetamine. As a result, the driver is now facing additional felony charges.
