Outbuilding Fire In Elma Claims Life Thursday Evening.

East Grays Harbor Fire and Rescue says that one person was found deceased in the outbuilding after they were able to get the fire under control and knocked down.

EGHFR says that at approximately 23:40 hours, East Grays Harbor Fire and, Rescue (EGHFR was dispatched to a fully involved outbuilding fire in the 600 of N 9th St , with reports of a possible occupant inside.

Radio traffic indicated that the shed was fully engulfed with someone possibly stuck inside. Officer on scene was not able to get the door open.

EGHFR says that upon arrival, fire crews quickly assessed the situation and transitioned to a defensive firefighting strategy due to the extent of the fire's involvement. The priority was to extinguish the blaze and protect nearby structures from being threatened by-the rapidly spreading flames.

Once the fire was brought under control, fire crews conducted an initial search of the building and Tragically located a single occupant who had succumbed to the effects of the fire." The identity of the victim is being withheld at this time pending notification of nest of kin

The cause of the fire is under investigation, and no further details are available at this time.
