Suspects tracked down and arrestred after finding wallet and going on spending spree

Grays Harbor County, WA — A routine stop at a local gas station turned into a crime investigation yesterday July 31st after a citizen who stopped at a local gas station lost their wallet, which was later used in a series of fraudulent purchases.

According to the Grays Harbor County Sheriff's Office, two individuals who discovered the lost wallet allegedly used the victim’s credit card at several retail locations in the area. Deputies promptly initiated an investigation and were able to identify the suspects through store surveillance and transaction records.

Upon locating the suspects, authorities recovered merchandise believed to have been unlawfully purchased with the stolen card. The items were seized as evidence.

Both suspects were taken into custody and booked into the Grays Harbor County Jail. They face charges including three counts of Theft in the Second Degree, Criminal Impersonation, and Trafficking in Stolen Property in the First Degree.

According to the Grays Harbor County Jail register the two individuals booked for multiple related charges is Mathew Wikander and Tanya Barnes. 

The investigation remains ongoing.
