September 12, 2025 – Firefighters responded yesterday evening to a vehicle fire in the Murray Place neighborhood that was reported just before 8:20 p.m. The fire was initially believed to be threatening a nearby structure.
While en route, Engine 51 requested mutual aid from Grays Harbor Fire District 12 due to the location and nature of the call. Upon arrival, crews discovered a vehicle that was already half involved in flames and positioned dangerously close to a structure. Firefighters quickly began suppression efforts, bringing the blaze under control within minutes. With the fire contained, the request for mutual aid was canceled.

No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
During the vehicle fire response, East Grays Harbor Fire crews were also dispatched to two separate medical emergencies. Aid 93 from Montesano Fire Department handled the first call, while Aid 53 cleared from the fire scene to respond to the second.
Officials extended their appreciation to their mutual aid partners from McCleary Fire/Grays Harbor Fire District 12 and the Montesano Fire Department, as well as the Elma Police Department and the Grays Harbor County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance. Special thanks were also given to Grays Harbor 911 Communications for their critical role in coordinating multiple calls simultaneously.
