An Aberdeen Police officer was treated and released (for shoulder discomfort) Monday afternoon (January 7th) from the Grays Harbor Community Hospital following a two-vehicle collision involving his patrol car.

At about 11:58 AM the 19-year APD veteran was driving southbound in the left lane of Park St. in his fully marked 2017 Ford Explorer patrol vehicle.

The patrol car was traveling between 25-30 MPH as he approached 4th St.

A 2001 Honda Civic being driven by a 36-year old Aberdeen man approached the intersection eastbound on 4th St. The Civic stopped briefly at the stop sign, before pulling out into the path of the patrol vehicle.

The driver reported he looked southbound but failed to check for vehicles from the north, before pulling out onto Park Street.  Park Street is a southbound-only roadway.

The officer took immediate evasive action by braking hard, but was unable to avoid the collision.

Both vehicles sustained approximately $2,500 damage.

The Honda driver was checked at the scene by AFD, and declined further assistance.
