A suspended driver for traffic continued traffic violations and failure to take care of those violations rear ended a truck Friday morning that was turning into the Hoquiam McDonald's drive through inuring him.
According to Hoquiam Police a social media post they say were on the scene of a two vehicle, injury collision in the 2500-block of Simpson Ave where the driver of the pick-up was attempting to turn into the McDonald’s drive-thru when he was rear-ended by a Jeep apparently traveling at a high rate according to witnesses.

The truck ended up careening into the dumpster area next to the drive-thru line. The driver was transported to Community Hospital by Hoquiam ambulance.
The driver of the Jeep had a suspended license, however due to a just issued court decision out of Thurston County, DOL has been ordered to vacate all suspensions in the third degree because the court ruled your license cannot be suspended for failure to pay a traffic ticket, only for failing to respond or appear in court. The court determined it is a violation of someone’s rights to require them to pay a traffic ticket if they cannot afford to pay the fine.
Until DOL can determine the difference between fail to pay or fail to appear, it is not clear what drivers will or will not have a suspended license.
The driver was cited for no valid driver’s license, following too close (resulting in a collision) and no insurance.
