The Hoquiam Police Department said in a social media post that this morning, that while officers were out investigating a vehicle collision in the 2900 block of Simpson Ave, an unrelated vehicle collided with one of their patrol SUVs with the passenger car rolling.

The incident occurred on September 4th, 2021 at 4:16 AM when HPD officers were clearing a 3 vehicle collision in the 2900 block of Simpson Avenue when a 51-year-old Aberdeen woman driving a 2015 Dodge Dart collided with a marked HPD patrol vehicle which was blocking the road for the tow truck.

The patrol vehicle, a 2014 Dodge Durango, had it's emergency LED lights activated at the time of the collision and was parked approximately 100 feet behind the initial collision scene as the tow truck operator and police officers were clearing the roadway. The police SUV was not occupied at the time of the collision. After striking the patrol vehicle, the Dodge Dart rolled once and came to rest on the north planting strip on Simpson Avenue.

The female driver of the Dodge Dart and her male passenger only received minor scrapes and bruises and were not transported to the hospital. There were no signs of impairment; however, the female drivers indicated she had difficulty seeing at night.
