3 Car Collision Near Rochester HS Results in Fatality Monday Evening.

The Washington State Patrol says that distracted driving was the cause of a fatality collision Monday evening on State Route 12 just before the Rochester High School on State Route 12. 

The collision occurred on October 18th at 6:43 PM on State Route 12 and Huntington St in Rochester.  

A 1996 Toyota Corolla driven by a 42-year-old Rochester woman was traveling westbound on State Route 12 and slowed to make a left hand turn onto southbound Huntington when she was struck by a 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt driven by a 16-year-old Rochester teen from behind. The Corolla rotated counterclockwise and struck vehicle a vehicle traveling eastbound on 12, a 2013 Honda CRV driven by a 35-year-old Rochester man. All 3 vehicles ended in the eastbound lanes of SR 12in the roadway blocking traffic for one hour and forty-two minutes. 

The 42-year-old Rochester woman was transported to a local hospital (not mentioned) where she later died.  No other involved parties were injured. 

The Washington State Patrol report does not indicate what the distraction was, whether cell phone use, dog on the side of the road, other traffic etc... No chargers were filed against the 16 year old at this time.
