Vehicle Fire In Elma Appears Suspicious

The Elma Police Department says that a vehicle that was reported on fire this morning, Thursday, October 10th appears to be suspicious.

In a social media only statement, the Elma Police Department posted that On the morning of October 10, 2024 at around 5:59 am, several calls were made to Grays Harbor Communications, advising of a vehicle fire in the 100 block of N A Street in Elma. Elma Police Officers were first on scene and attempted to extinguish the fire, but the vehicle was fully engulfed. An off-duty firefighter who lived in the area utilized his garden hose in an attempt to protect a neighboring structure. East Grays Harbor Fire and Rescue arrived on scene and quickly extinguished the fire.

Upon investigation, the fire appeared suspicious and the Elma Police are investigating the fire as a possible arson. The fire was contained to the vehicle, and it was determined to be a total loss. No other damage or injuries were sustained.
