Coast Guard, Good Samaritans Rescue Four After Vessel Takes On Water Near Grays Harbor Entrance

Coast Guard crews and local Good Samaritans rescued four mariners early this morning after their vessel began taking on water near the entrance to Grays Harbor.

According to Coast Guard officials, Sector Columbia River watchstanders received a mayday call and immediately launched response crews from Air Station Astoria and Station Grays Harbor.

Before Coast Guard units arrived, Good Samaritans aboard the fishing vessel Lady Nancy located the distressed mariners, pulling all four from the water. One individual was found unresponsive, and the crew of the Lady Nancy initiated CPR. The person later regained consciousness, officials said.

A helicopter crew from Air Station Astoria hoisted all four individuals from the Lady Nancy and transferred them to awaiting EMS for advanced medical care at a nearby hospital.

In comments of yesterdays post, it is said 3 of the rescues were released from the hospital, the 3rd was life flighted to Tacoma for monitoring.
