Fatal Collision on SR-12 Near Milepost 68 Leaves One Dead, Two Injured

LEWIS COUNTY — A fatal traffic collision on State Route 12 near milepost 68 on Thursday afternoon left one passenger deceased and two drivers injured, according to the Washington State Patrol (WSP).

The crash occurred at approximately 4:42 p.m. on November 27, 2025. Investigators say Vehicle One was traveling westbound on SR-12 when the driver attempted an improper U-turn in front of an oncoming vehicle. Vehicle Two, also westbound and traveling behind Vehicle One, collided with the turning vehicle.

The driver of Vehicle One, Remigio Corona Quintero, 55, of Centralia, was injured and transported to Providence Centralia Hospital. WSP reports that charges of vehicular homicide and driving under the influence are being forwarded in connection with the collision. He was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

The driver of Vehicle Two, Joanne McCurry, 66, of Mossyrock, also sustained injuries and was transported to Providence Centralia Hospital. She was also wearing a seatbelt.

A passenger in Vehicle Two, Dorothy J. Vandiest, 95, of Chehalis, died as a result of her injuries. She was reported to have been wearing a seatbelt.

Both vehicles — a 1999 GMC Sierra and a 2001 Dodge Grand — were totaled and impounded by the Washington State Patrol.

WSP confirms that drugs or alcohol were involved in the crash. The incident remains under investigation.
