71-year-old Taholah man was killed early Thursday morning following a single-vehicle crash along State Route 109 near Copalis Beach, according to the Washington State Patrol.
The collision occurred on March 26, 2026, at approximately 2:31 a.m. near milepost 21 in Grays Harbor County. Authorities report the vehicle was traveling northbound on SR 109 when it left the roadway to the right, struck a tree, and became fully engulfed in flames. The vehicle ultimately came to rest in a ditch along the northbound side of the highway.

The driver, identified a Taholah man, was pronounced deceased at the scene. No other occupants were involved in the crash.
The Washington State Patrol reports that drugs or alcohol are currently listed as unknown, and the cause of the crash remains under investigation.
Emergency responders handled the incident, and the vehicle was later removed from the scene by Avalon Towing.
Authorities have not released additional details as the investigation continues.
