Motorists traveling to and from Ocean Shores this weekend can expect an increased law enforcement presence as agencies across Grays Harbor County partner for a high-visibility traffic enforcement campaign during the annual Hog Wild motorcycle rally.
According to a Washington State Patrol press release issued Wednesday, the Washington State Patrol, Ocean Shores Police Department, and Grays Harbor County Sheriff's Office will conduct emphasis patrols from July 24 through July 26. The effort coincides with Hog Wild, recognized as the largest motorcycle rally in western Washington.
The primary goal of the enforcement operation is to reduce serious injury and fatal collisions while also deterring criminal activity throughout the busy weekend.

Officers and deputies will utilize an "all crimes" enforcement approach, with a strong emphasis on traffic violations that are commonly linked to serious crashes. Enforcement efforts will focus on:
- Speeding
- Following too closely
- Impaired driving
- Distracted driving
- Aggressive driving behaviors
The increased patrols come as motorcycle fatalities remain a significant concern across Washington. According to the Washington Traffic Safety Commission, 659 people were killed in traffic-related crashes in 2025, including 103 motorcyclists. State officials say the leading contributing factors in fatal motorcycle crashes were impaired driving (64%) and speeding (48%).
With thousands of visitors expected to travel to Ocean Shores for the rally, authorities are urging all drivers to remain alert and share the road safely. Drivers are encouraged to check blind spots carefully and look twice for motorcycles, particularly when turning or changing lanes.
Motorcyclists are also reminded to improve their visibility by wearing high-visibility, DOT-approved safety gear, maintaining safe following distances, and obeying posted speed limits.
Law enforcement officials hope the increased enforcement and public awareness efforts will help ensure everyone enjoys a safe and incident-free Hog Wild weekend.
