MONTESANO, Wash. — Grays Harbor County officials are expanding outdoor burn restrictions as warm, dry weather and increasing wildfire danger continue across the region.
Effective 12:01 a.m. Friday, July 24, 2026, the Grays Harbor County Fire Marshal's Office, in coordination with local fire districts, has enacted additional restrictions on outdoor burning throughout Grays Harbor County.
According to the Fire Marshal's Office, the expanded burn ban comes as fire danger continues to increase and the Washington State Department of Natural Resources has raised the fire danger on public lands in the region to High. County officials say the added restrictions are intended to reduce the risk of human-caused wildfires until weather and fuel conditions improve.
Under the updated restrictions, all recreational campfires are now prohibited, along with charcoal barbecues, wood-burning devices, residential yard waste burning, and land-clearing burns.
The restrictions are a significant increase from the previous burn ban, which still allowed recreational campfires under certain safety requirements.

ooking and heating devices that use natural gas or propane may continue to be used, including propane barbecues, pellet-burning devices, gas camp stoves, and gas fire pits.
Residents planning beach fires should also be aware that additional restrictions may be in place on Washington State Park beaches and are encouraged to check with Washington State Parks before visiting.
The expanded burn ban will remain in effect until further notice, or until weather conditions moderate and fire danger decreases.
