Bystander Saves DUI Driver That Drove Into Arcadia Point Boat Launch Mason County

The Mason County Sheriff’s Office says a suspected DUI driver drove a vehicle off the Arcadia Point boat launch and into the water.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, a bystander quickly responded and was able to rescue the driver from the water. No injuries were reported.

The vehicle remains submerged approximately 30 feet offshore and is creating a significant hazard for boaters attempting to use the launch.

The Arcadia Point boat launch is currently CLOSED while crews work to recover the vehicle. Officials are asking the public not to attempt to use the launch until the vehicle has been removed and the area has been cleared for reopening.

The Mason County Sheriff’s Office also expressed appreciation for the quick actions of the bystander who assisted in rescuing the driver.
