The Hoquiam Police Department is investigating a suspicious death after being called for a welfare check at a residence in the 2900 block of Simpson Avenue Sunday.
Sergeant Jeff Salstrom had this to say about the case Monday morning.
On March 11, 2018 at about 1147 a.m. Hoquiam Police officers were dispatched to a welfare check at a residence in the 2900 block of Simpson Avenue. A family member had reported they had not been able to make contact with the 53 year old man and he had missed a shift at work.
Upon arrival, officers observed through a window the man was down on the ground and was not responsive. Officers forced entry into the residence and found the man to be deceased.

Deputy coroners from the Grays Harbor Coroner’s office were also called and responded. At this time there is no determination on the nature of the death and the investigation is ongoing. Determinations as to the cause and nature of death will not be made until an autopsy is conducted and the results of toxicology tests can be obtained.
