On Thursday afternoon Grays Harbor County Sheriff Rick Scott held a press conference at the McCleary Community Center updating the public on new developments on the missing child case Lindsey Baum that started back on June 26th, 2009 12 years ago.

In the news conference Sheriff Scott explained that In the fall of 2017, human remains were found in a remote location in eastern Washington.  The remains were eventually confirmed to be that of Lindsey Baum, a 10-year-old girl who went missing in McCleary, Washington on June 26, 2009.  In order to protect the integrity of the investigation, the location where the remains were found will not be provided until a later date.

The delay in identifying the bones that had been found in Eastern Washington was due to the bones found not being tied to any case.  DNA testing that was later done brought back results that of Lindsey Baum, those results were received a few weeks ago. 

Scott declined to answer any questions regarding the recovery of Baum's body other than that it was located in Eastern Washington, and that they are changing the status of the missing person's case to a kidnapping homicide case. 

The Grays Harbor County Sheriff’s Office continues to work with the Federal Bureau of Investigation on this homicide investigation.
