Hoquiam Police Chief Myers says that yesterdays fire in the 1000 block of Lincoln Street is being investigated for suspicion of arson. Hoquiam has had a string of fires over the past few years that they have had to investigate as a possible arson, and this one has been added to the list.
Here is what Chief Myers said in a press release Tuesday afternoon.
On Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at 1254 hours, Hoquiam Fire and Police were dispatched to a structure fire at a residence in the 1000 block of Lincoln Street.
HPD officers arrived at the scene soon followed by an engine from the Hoquiam Fire Department.
Officers discovered a small fire on the exterior siding at the back corner of an old vacant house off the alley leading to a large apartment complex. The fire had extended into the wall cavity, but was quickly extinguished by the fire crew on the first arriving engine.

Since the house was vacant without power service and had obviously not been occupied in quite some, fire investigators from the Hoquiam Police Department, Hoquiam Fire Department and Ocean Shores Fire Department processed the scene for evidence.
At this time, the fire is suspected to be arson.
Anyone who witnessed someone lingering next to the house, or has nearby video security systems which depicts information related to the fire is encouraged to call Sgt. Shane Krohn at 360-532-0892 x 278.
The investigation is ongoing. Reference HPD Case 18-H07050.
