Coast Guard Video, aircrew hoists 3 fishermen in Willapa Bay

Grays Harbor Scanner has the latest video from the US Coast Guard where an aircrew rescues 3 fishermen who became stranded on rocks in Willapa Bay Pacific County on June 20th.

A Coast Guard aircrew rescued three fishermen stranded on rocks in Willapa Bay, Wash., Wednesday evening.

An MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter aircrew from Air Station Astoria safely hoisted the three individuals and transported them to the beach.

Coast Guard Sector Columbia River Command Center personnel received a report at 7 p.m. from a Pacific County Dispatch deputy stating that the individuals became stranded on the rocks when the tide came in and were in danger of being washed off. The deputy was on scene but could not reach the individuals.

A Station Grays Harbor boat crew aboard a 47-foot Motor Life Boat arrived on scene to assist the aircrew if needed.

The fishermen were dropped off on the beach at 8:08 p.m. with no reported injuries or medical concerns.

Weather at the time of the rescue was reported with winds at 10 knots and an air temperature of 60 degrees Fahrenheit.
