The Ocean Shores Police Department released a statement Monday evening in regards to a call they received Sunday evening in where a woman was claiming to be suicidal, using that as an excuse to get help and away from 2 of the 3 men that had raped her.

Here is more on this story from Sgt. David McManus Ocean Shores Police Department

On July 29, two men were arrested for a rape that was committed on the beach at Ocean Shores. A third male suspect is still at large.

At about 10:10 p.m. on July 28, a woman called 911 asking for help because she was feeling suicidal. Ocean Shores PD officers responded and located the woman at a campfire just north of the Chance ala Mer beach approach. She was with two men and another woman, and asked the officers to get her away from those people.

Once she was safely away, she told the officers that she had been sexually assaulted by the two men and another man who had left the area before the officers were called. She also reported that the other woman present had watched what happened and did not intervene.

The victim was transported to Grays Harbor Community Hospital for a sexual assault forensic examination. She suffered injuries that corroborated what she reported to the police.

The victim is a 31-year old woman from Olympia. The male suspects are both transients from the Olympia area and are both 54-years old. The third male has not been identified, and was only described as a Latino male. The investigation continues to learn his identity.

The victim had only recently met the two men and the woman, and came to Ocean Shores with them. The unidentified suspect apparently was on the beach and joined the group at their campfire before the assault occurred.

The female suspect was interviewed and released (but charges against her may be filed at a later date). The two men were booked at the Grays Harbor County Jail on rape charges. One of the men gave the officers a false name, but was correctly identified by his fingerprints at the jail.
