At about 6pm, a male was heard yelling obscenities in the parking lot of the police station. When contacted by officers, the man yelled more obscenities then drove off. Officers began checking the area for the man, then a call was received that the same man was in the parking lot of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, yelling obscenities at a house across the street.

The man was located at a house in the 500 block of Sunset Ave. NE in Ocean Shores. He retreated into the house, locking the door and turning off the lights. He was seen to have a child of about 10-years old with him. Officers were immediately concerned that the man had harmed his wife and child or that he was holding them hostage.

Officers attempted to make contact with the man or anyone else in the house for two hours without success. A search warrant was obtained for the house, and Ocean Shores PD officers, assisted by two Sheriff’s Deputies, entered the home. They located the 38-year old, a woman and the child in a locked bedroom. The man was taken into custody without further incident and without anyone getting injured. He was booked into the Hoquiam City jail on charges of Disorderly Conduct and Obstructing a Law Enforcement Officer.

When asked why he was yelling at the police station, the man explained that several months ago, an Ocean Shores PD Officer had spoken to him rudely.
