A 45-year old south Aberdeen female pedestrian was severely injured just before 8:50 PM Friday evening January 4th in the 100 block of the N. West Blvd.

The pedestrian was walking across West Blvd from the west side of the street, going to a nearby grocery store, when she was struck in the right northbound lane by a 2005 Ford F150 being driven by a 20-year old south Aberdeen woman.

The woman driving the pickup was following a vehicle driven by her 20-year old boyfriend to her home nearby.

The pedestrian was wearing all dark clothing, and visibility was reduced due to rain and limited street lighting.

Neither the younger woman nor her boyfriend reported seeing the pedestrian, who crossed between them.

The driver reported not knowing she struck someone, further reporting she believed she might have been experiencing a vehicle equipment issue.

She continued home, but upon discovery of the damage returned to the area where she began experiencing the noise.

There she found police and fire personnel tending to the pedestrian victim, who was rushed to the Grays Harbor Community Hospital for emergency treatment.

The driver is cooperating with the investigation, and drugs/alcohol do not appear to be a contributing factor.

The Aberdeen Police Department was assisted with the on-scene investigation by a Grays Harbor County Sheriff’s deputy and a Cosmopolis Police officer.

The roadway was closed until just before midnight. The investigating is continuing.
