A 33-year-old man from Shelton is in custody on several charges after he lead police in a pursuit while driving a front end loader he had stolen.
A 33-year-old man from Shelton is in custody on several charges after he lead police in a pursuit while driving a front end loader he had stolen.
Hoquiam units were dispatched to Willis Enterprises for a trespass in progress. It was reported an individual unknown to the business was driving around the front loader used to load wood chips into trucks.
The complainant also advised there was a car stuck in the mud on Moon Island Road who might be associated with the suspect in the front loader.
The subjects with the stuck car, a 44-year-old Hoquiam man and a 23-year-old Ocean Shores woman, were contacted as other officers contacted the suspect in the front loader.
The suspect refused to stop the front loader and a pursuit through the mill yard ensued. Officers from the Aberdeen Police Department and deputies from the Grays Harbor Sheriff’s Office responded to assist. The subjects with the stuck vehicle were ordered to remain at the location until being contacted again by police.

The suspect eventually crashed through a gate and got the front loader stuck in the ditch. The suspect then fled on foot, but was quickly apprehended. The suspect was booked into the county jail for burglary, theft of a motor vehicle, malicious mischief 2nd degree, obstructing police, and resisting arrest.
Officers returned to contact the two subjects with the stuck vehicle as the suspect advised they were acquaintances of his. The 44-year-old Hoquiam man had fled as he had outstanding warrants for his arrest.
Deputy Gay and his K9 partner, Max, were called to the scene and quickly found the suspect hiding behind the mounds of dirt. Turns out, Aberdeen was unable to confirm the warrants, because of the jail population, so the suspect hid for no reason!
