Suicidal Montesano Man Shot After Charging At Officers With Swords Tuesday Evening.

After a long day with a standoff situation in Montesano, the Montesano Police Department has released some details of the incident.  

On April 16, 2019, at approximately 2:09 pm, the Montesano Police Department was called to the 100 block of South Academy Street for a suicidal subject.

When officers arrived on scene they were able to make verbal contact with a male subject who appeared to be having mental health issues.

During the officer's contact, the male subject appeared with two swords and charged officers.

The Regional Crisis Response Unit Team was called out and officers negotiated with the subject for several hours before the subject again charged officers and he was shot.

The male subject was transported to Grays Harbor Community Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The Region 3 Critical Incident Investigation Team was called to investigate and review the shooting.

At this time, the investigation is on-going
