Burglar Caught On Camera Breaking Into Gas Station Caught In The Act.

We have an update to an incident this morning in Aberdeen where a transient broke into the Liberty Gas Station on North Alder St that prompted a large response from officers in clearing and getting the suspect out of the building.

More on this from LT. Chastain of APD.

A 21-year old Aberdeen transient was arrested overnight as he tried to hide in the ceiling of the Liberty Gas Station, located at 120 N. Alder St.

At 3:10 AM this morning officer responded to a report called in by the business owner/operator that they were watching a male suspect actively burglarizing their store. They received a notification of the burglary and began remotely monitoring the cameras inside the business.

A call was made to the Grays Harbor 911 Dispatch Center, and officers were advised. Two officers were on general patrol in the immediate area, and they arrived moments later to discover a broken window on the northwest corner of the business. Officers from the Hoquiam Police Department responded to assist with containment, and officers could hear noises inside the business.

The on-duty Grays Harbor County K-9 team responded to assist, and officers gained entry. The suspect was apprehended in the kitchen area, attempting to hide in the ceiling.

The suspect voluntarily gave himself up and became cooperative when he realized the K-9 was preparing to apprehend him. The clothing he was wearing matched the description provided by the business owner during the initial report.

The suspect was booked into the Aberdeen Police Jail for Burglary and an outstanding Aberdeen Municipal Court misdemeanor warrant.
