DUI Driver Rolls Car Onto Side At Simpson Ave Bridge Saturday Night

Sgt. Salstrom with the Hoquiam Police Department says that the man who rolled his car Saturday night at the base of the Simpson Ave Bridge had a blood alcohol level that was found to be in excess of .26, over three times the .08 limit set by state law

.On May 4th at about 11:18 p.m. Hoquiam officers were dispatched to a rollover collision at the base of the Simpson Avenue Bridge, near the Hoquiam Police Department.  A 2014 Kia Optima had struck the jersey barrier at the bridge approach and then rolled onto its side in the 1000 block of Simpson Avenue.

Upon the arrival of officers, witnesses pointed out the driver, a 20 year old Aberdeen man, who was attempting to flee the area on foot.  Officers quickly apprehended him.  The man showed indications of being under the influence of alcohol.  He was examined at the scene by paramedics and it was determined he was not injured.  The driver was arrested for Driving Under the Influence.  After processing, the man’s blood alcohol level was found to be in excess of .26, over three times the .08 limit set by state law.
