At approximately 1:15 pm on June 18, 2019, we received a call out for a fire at the 206 Mill on Otis Court in Moclips.

The initial report was of several vehicles on fire, flames, and smoke was seen and threatening structures. When crews arrived on the scene, they found several old, derelict vehicles on fire, but no structures were threatened.

The fire was mostly between the 206 Mill and the 208 Mill, but threatening wildlands.

Water tenders and assistance were requested and received by Fire District 16, the Quinault Fire Department and DNR.

Approximately 1.5 acres were burned from an unknown source and no significant damage occurred. The scene was transferred to DNR at 7:42 pm and they stayed overnight to watch over the area.

We’d like to thank our neighboring departments for their quick response and remind everyone that we have a potential for this to be a very dangerous fire season.

We may not be under a fire ban yet, but the threat is there. Please do not leave your campfires unattended or have them near ANY type of grass or vegetation
