According to the Washington State Patrol, the driver of a vehicle that struck a horse with a rider on it in just outside of Ocean Shores Tuesday afternoon says that he couldn't see the horse and rider due to sun being in his eyes.

The cause, and incident is still under investigation they say but the details released show that the driver, a 31-year-old Ocean Shores man who was driving a 2002 Subaru Station Wagon was traveling south on southbound on State Route 115 at 7:30 pm in a section where the road turns west when it struck the horse and ejected the rider, a 48-year-old Ocean Shores woman, near Damon Road.

The rider was transported to Community Hospital in Aberdeen with undisclosed injuries. The horse was transported to Brady Veterinarian Animal Hospital and is doing fine according to Facebook comments on the Grays Harbor Scanner original post. The horse had a large gash that needed to be tended to and stitched up.  The horse initially had to be caught as it had run off onto the beach and towards the casino.

Charges have not been made awaiting investigation conclusion.
