A 27-year old Aberdeen man was arrested Friday evening after reportedly assaulting his 55-year old mother at their residence in the 300 block of Conger St on Aberdeen’s west end. Just after 6 PM officers responded to the location, where they located the woman with substantial visible injuries. She advised her son had assaulted her, and he left the residence on foot.

Officer Chad Pearsall and his K-9 partner “Ronin” responded to the initial call, and were at the home when it was determined the suspect (son) had fled on foot. Based on probable cause for a felony Assault 2 Degree/DV, the K-9 team began a track for the suspect. The team tracked east from the home to a fenced in back yard of a residence in the area of Pacific and Thornton St., where the suspect was found to be hiding from officers.

The suspect was reported to have knives on his person, and he refused to cooperate with officers and make his hands visible. After the suspect refused to comply with repeated orders to show his hands and follow directions, K-9 “Ronin” was deployed to bring the suspect from his hiding place. The suspect was taken into custody with minor injuries. He was checked by paramedics from the Aberdeen Fire Department, then booked into the Aberdeen Jail.
