The Aberdeen Police Department has released information on the shooting and robbery incident that took place Sunday evening on West Second Street where initial dispatch reports said that someone had been shot.  APD now says that was not the case, the person had been sprayed with mace and that is not all to the story. 

Here is what LT Darst with APD says;

On August 26th at about 7:23 PM, Aberdeen Police Officers responded to a report of gunshots being fired in the area of 2nd Street and D Street in Aberdeen. As officers arrived, they identified a two-story residence at that location where the incident occurred. Officers located a man who had been sprayed with mace. There were numerous involved parties and the officers started investigating the crime.

There were reports that masked suspects fled the residence and were last seen getting into a vehicle which fled the area. The officers located cash, drug packaging materials, and other drug paraphernalia scattered about the yard and onto D Street. The investigation revealed multiple shots were fired in the utility room at the residence. Shell casings were located and a bullet was recovered from a neighbor’s residence. There were no reports of anyone injured or struck by the fired rounds.

Multiple subjects fled the residence on foot and in vehicles prior to officers arriving on scene. Multiple individuals that were still on the scene were interviewed by the officers. Two of the witnesses reported that a female that was involved pointed a firearm at them before leaving the scene. That female has since been identified as a suspect and officers are currently looking for her. Witnesses stated that they heard a total of three shots fired during the incident.

This does not appear to be a random act and was most likely attributed to illegal drug activity. The main persons involved with this criminal activity are not cooperating with the police at this time.
