We have an update from the Aberdeen Police Department on a vehicle versus pedestrian accident we first posted an alert to on our Facebook page on Wednesday, October 17th in the evening where it is said the pedestrian was wearing all dark clothing.

A Westport man sustained a lower leg fracture in Aberdeen Wednesday night when he was struck by a 2002 Ford Taurus.

Aberdeen officers responded to the 9:26 PM on October 17th to a reported pedestrian vs. car collision in the 1400 block of Sumner Ave.

Officers reported the 35-year old pedestrian was wearing dark clothing and crossing at mid-block when he was struck by the westbound Ford which was driven by a 34-year old Aberdeen man.

The pedestrian was walking toward the south side of the road when the collision occurred and he was thrown up onto the hood and windshield of the vehicle.

The pedestrian was transported by the Aberdeen Fire Department to the Grays Harbor Community Hospital for treatment.

There he told officers he had not been paying attention to approaching cars as he crossed.

The driver and witnesses (in other vehicles) all explained they had not seen the pedestrian until the collision occurred.

The report will be submitted to the Aberdeen City Attorney’s Office for consideration of any infractions to be issued.
