Suspects Arrested After Vehicle Pursuit Wednesday Evening In Aberdeen that Started In Hoquiam.

On 12/11/19 jut before 11 p.m. a Hoquiam Police officer attempted to stop a 1990 Ford Ranger pick-up in downtown Hoquiam for several traffic violations. The truck, with two adult male occupants, refused to stop for the officer and sped away at a high rate of speed, eastbound on Simpson Avenue. The officer intitated a pursuit of the vehicle.

The vehicle continued across the Simpson Avenue bridge and then turned southbound on 23rd Street, which is for northbound traffic only. The truck then turned eastbound onto Aberdeen Avenue and continued at a high rate of speed for several blocks before returning to Simpson Avenue.

Officers pursued the vehicle into Aberdeen. When the vehicle reached Alder Street, it turned southbound. Alder Street is also a one-way street for northbound traffic. Due to the dangers involved, officers terminated the pursuit of the vehicle.

A short time later, an Aberdeen Police sergeant located the vehicle abandoned in the 100 block of South Lincoln Street. Officers and deputies from the Grays Harbor County Sheriff’s Office set up a perimeter around the area and the Aberdeen Police K-9 unit conducted a track. The track led to a nearby residence. Occupants of the residence provided information about a possible suspect who had briefly been there and left just prior to officers arriving. They allowed officers to search the house but the suspect was not located.

A short time later, officers were contacted by someone who had information about the pursuit. They indicated one of the suspects was in a residence adjacent to where the truck was found and provided officers with a name. Officers contacted the occupants of the residence. The suspect, who had an outstadning warrant for his arrest from the Department of Corrections, agreed to come out of the house and was taken into custody.

The truck was impounded and towed to the Hoquiam Police Department. The owner of the truck was located and agreed to come to the Hoquiam Police Department. He is cooperating with officers in the investigation. The owner agreed to let officers search the truck. Evidence linking the suspect who was arrested on the warrant to the truck was located inside.
