OCEAN SHORES, WASH. - At 2:50 p.m. on Tuesday, March 2, the Ocean Shores Fire Department was dispatched to a structure fire in the 200 block of Octopus Avenue Northeast. First arriving units reported that a single-story home was fully engulfed in flames and threatening homes on either side. 

The Grays Harbor Drug Task Force served a search warrant on Friday, February 19th that resulted in the arrest of a 41-year-old Hoquiam man.

According to a short media release, the Grays Harbor Drug Task Force, with the assistance of the Aberdeen Regional Crisis Response Unit and the Aberdeen and Hoquiam Police Departments served a Narcotics Search Warrant in the 3000 block of Simpson Avenue in Hoquiam. A 41-year-old male Hoquiam resident was arrested reference the investigation.

Also located at the residence and arrested on unrelated warrants was a 25-year-old Hoquiam resident.

A 15-year-old female runaway out of Oregon was also located at the residence and turned over to Child Protective Services.

The Aberdeen Regional Crisis Response Unit was utilized due to the criminal history and intelligence of the 41-year-old male that was the focus of the investigation.

Undersheriff Johansson says that the Grays Harbor County Sheriffs Office has asked the Mason County Sheriff's Office to investigate a suicide death in its jail that occurred early Wednesday Morning February 17th. 

According to a press release - On 02-17-21 at approximately 0442 hours corrections deputies located an inmate that was housed in his cell alone hanging.

 Corrections deputies immediately started rendering first aid and the aid crew was called to the jail.

Despite their best efforts, the inmate died at the scene.

The Grays Harbor Sheriff’s Office requested assistance from the Mason County Sheriff’s Office to conduct an independent investigation of the death.

Mason County Sheriff’s Office detectives are on scene and the Grays Harbor Coroner’s office has been notified.

The identity of the victim is being withheld until family members have been notified.
