SR 109 west of Hoquiam reopens through Labor Day
Another closure planned after holiday using same detour
HOQUIAM – State Route 109 west of Hoquiam is now open following work to remove a barrier to fish. Travelers can expect daytime one-way alternating traffic approaching the work zone.

Crews closed the highway July 22. Workers excavated the entire roadway. Workers then installed a new culvert that removes barriers to fish under the highway.
During the closure, people used a detour on US 101 and Ocean Beach Road. The same detour will be used when another section of SR 109 west of Hoquiam closes after Labor Day.
Closure specifics
SR 109 will close from 12 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 3 through 11:59 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5.
The closure will be near Kessler Lane at milepost 6.9.
SR 109 closure south of Copalis Beach continues
A section of SR 109 remains closed at milepost 19.4 between Pacific Lane and Chabot Road. This closure will continue through 11:59 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 29. The construction is related to a fish barrier removal project.
