In case you missed it, last night June 20th, 2025 around 7:40 PM Grays Harbor Scanner posted a community alert and a subscriber alert to a hit-and-run that had occurred at Sumner Ave and Ontario St in Hoquiam. It was reported that it did not appear that the driver and vehicle had stayed on the scene of the collision, and that the pedestrian was still laying in the roadway. On EMS arrival they started a 10-minute trauma timer and had inquired about Lifeflight availability but they were an hour away from being able to respond, they were canceled and the pedestrian was loaded up and taken to Community Hospital.

Initially it was believed that a silver passenger car that was being followed on SR 109 towards Ocean Shores was the suspect vehicle, however after being stopped by Ocean Shores Police Department, that vehicle was ruled out, however the driver of that vehicle was being investigated for DUI.
The Hoquiam Police Department went to social media asking for video coverage of the incident or roadway coverage to identify the suspect vehicle, and later posted an update saying "Hoquiam officers have identified the suspect car as a gold 2005 Toyota Camry sedan, Washington license CBE9941. The vehicle will have damage to the front driver’s side and is missing the driver’s side headlight. The vehicle was last seen crossing the Riverside Bridge".
Around 11:45 PM Ocean Shores officers located the vehicle with the suspect being identified and officers were attempting to locate him. An officer from HPD was responding to assist in locating the suspect and to take custody of the vehicle.
At 7:06 AM this morning, Sunday, HPD posted another edit to their post saying "The suspect has been taken into custody and interviewed. He will be booked into jail for the felony crime of Hit and Run with Injury. Had the drover stayed at the scene as required, there is the likelihood he would not be facing any charges".
