ABERDEEN, Wash. — Two Raymond residents were arrested following an investigation that began with a report of suspicious circumstances surrounding a vehicle sale arranged through Facebook Marketplace, according to the Aberdeen Police Department.
On April 20, 2026, officers responded after a prospective buyer reported concerns about a vehicle he had located online. The buyer had communicated with a female seller and arranged to meet to inspect the vehicle. Upon arrival, he instead spoke with a male individual who reportedly provided inconsistent explanations about the vehicle and repeatedly changed the asking price. Growing suspicious, the buyer contacted law enforcement, believing the vehicle may have been stolen.
An officer investigating the complaint confirmed the vehicle’s license plate was linked to a vehicle reported stolen out of Longview, Washington. The vehicle was later located at a hotel in Aberdeen, where officers continued the investigation.

Officers contacted two suspects at the hotel, who exited their room without incident and were taken into custody. A six-year-old child was also present in the room. During the investigation, officers discovered there was an active no-contact order between the male and female suspects.
Police observed suspected methamphetamine inside the room and obtained a search warrant. Upon executing the warrant, officers recovered approximately 21 grams of methamphetamine along with additional drug paraphernalia.
A 35-year-old Raymond man, Cory Reed, was arrested on charges of trafficking in stolen property, child neglect, and possession of a controlled substance. A 39-year-old Raymond woman, Patience Taylor, was arrested on an outstanding felony warrant, violation of a no-contact order, possession of stolen property, and child neglect.
The child was released into the custody of the Washington State Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF).
Authorities also reminded the public to take precautions when purchasing items through online marketplaces. Recommended safety steps include meeting in well-lit public locations, bringing a friend or informing someone of your plans, verifying ownership and vehicle information prior to purchase, being cautious of deals that seem too good to be true, and trusting your instincts if a situation feels unsafe.
The Aberdeen Police Department encourages community members to remain vigilant and report suspicious activity.
