Grays Harbor Scanner has gotten a follow-up press release to an incident we had first posted yesterday evening regarding a structure fire in Montesano at Montesano Health and Rehab.

Initial dispatch radio traffic had indicated that there was a fire in the roof with smoke and flames visible above the kitchen area where roofers had been working.  While the press release says that the cause is under investigation, while speaking with staff at the facility we have learned that they had a second company on site fixing a prior roofing job and that the roofers had been using a torch to heat up the tar replacing vents.  The fire was in the attic area where this work had been taking place.

Here is more from the Montesano Fire/Police Department.

A collision originally dispatched as a rollover collision in the 100 block Mrytle Street was not the result of speeding by the rolled vehicle, but the mail truck that struck it trying to get across traffic on Simpson Ave.

The Hoquiam Police Department says that the resulting investigation revealed a 53-year-old Aberdeen resident was traveling westbound on Sumner Avenue when a 42-year-old Postal Driver attempted to cross Sumner heading south. The postal van crashed into the rear passenger side of the white SUV causing it to rollover.

Aberdeen Police Officers are still searching for a shooting suspect from an incident that occurred at the homeless encampment off of E State St. Saturday, September 4th around 5 PM.

After being dispatched to the incident, Aberdeen officers arrived and found a 32-year-old male suffering from gunshot wounds. Officers started providing emergency care while securing the area for Aberdeen Fire Medic units to respond. The 32-year-old male was transported to Grays Harbor Regional Hospital for emergency care.
Aberdeen Detectives were called to process the scene while patrol officers checked the area for the suspect. Through the investigation, officers received information identifying Ricky Logan, a 31-year-old Aberdeen male, as a person of interest.
At this time, Logan is considered armed and dangerous. Please call 911 if you see or have information on his location.
At this point, the investigation is ongoing and active. More information will be provided as the case develops.
