Yesterday, November 28th, 2023 at about 3:56pm, Aberdeen officers received a call regarding a vehicle vs. pedestrian injury accident at the intersection of Broadway and First Street.  As officers were responding, a witness to the incident reported the striking vehicle, a white Chevrolet van, was fleeing the scene. 

Officers arrived at the scene of the accident, while other officers converged on the area where the suspect vehicle was last seen.  A witness followed the suspect vehicle while giving updates of its location to the dispatch center.  The suspect vehicle was subsequently located and stopped in the Bel-Aire area, and the driver was arrested for felony hit and run. 

The victim, a 44-year-old Aberdeen resident, was transported to the Harbor Regional Health Hospital in critical condition.  The Aberdeen Police investigations unit processed the scene with the assistance of the Hoquiam Police Department.  The suspect’s vehicle was seized as evidence and transported to the Aberdeen Police Department for further processing. 

The investigation is ongoing. 

According to the Washington State Patrol, the collision occurred on Thursday, November 16th at 9:33 AM when a gold 2004 Suba driven by a 76-year-old Aberdeen man had been traveling at a high rate of speed going through a curve on SR 105 near Johns River Rd southbound crossed over and struck a 2002 gold Toyota Rav driven by a 56-year-old Westport man who was northbound on SR 105. a third vehicle involved had gone into the ditch, avoiding the vehicles in the roadway, a purple 1998 Dodge Dakota driven by a 32-year-old Lacey Woman.

Initial dispatch had mentioned that one of the drivers involved had been unresponsive, however breathing (critical patient).

Through our GHScanner Facebook Page, it was mentioned that a dog that had been in one of the vehicles was killed in the collision.

The causing driver, the Aberdeen man, was transported to Community Hospital for his injures, as well as the Lacey woman by Ambulance. It was said that the 56-year-old Westport man was taken to Community Hospital by private vehicle.

It is unknown as of the report release if drugs and or alcohol were involved. The 76-year-old Aberdeen man was not wearing a seatbelt.

Even though there was mention on our Facebook Page about the vehicle passing 7 vehicles in a stretch, there was no mention of this in the report.

The collision occurred on Friday, November 10th, 2023 at 11:51 AM on State Route 109 in the 2600 block near 2nd Ave, Ocean City.  A 30-year-old Lakewood man driving a black 2015 Honda Accord was traveling southbound on State Route 109 approaching 2nd Ave in Ocean City.  The report states that the driver was driving at a high rate of speed, failed to negotiate a corner and collided head on with a gold 2000 Chevrolet Suburban driven by a 77-year-old Hoquiam man. 

The Lakewood man was not injured, however a passenger in his vehicle, a 32-year-old woman, was transported to Community Hospital for her injuries. Also transported for injuries was an 88-year-old Hoquiam woman from the struck vehicle.  

WSP says that charges are pending investigation, however states that drugs and or alcohol were involved in this case. 

While the Washington State Patrol has yet to put out an official update, they have said over social media that after speaking with more witnesses who came forward, they have now determined that the Centralia woman was driving southbound in the southbound lanes and that the driver of the jeep was going northbound in the southbound lanes.

A 31-year-old Centralia woman, driving southbound on Interstate 5 Friday evening, was struck by a DUI driver, resulting in her death along with a 2-year-old that was in the vehicle.  An 8-year-old was severely injured and transported to Mary Bridge Children's Hospital, Tacoma.
