Plan for daytime alternating traffic on SR 109 near Taholah

Plan for daytime alternating traffic on SR 109 near Taholah Aug. 4-15

TAHOLAH – People who use State Route 109 between Moclips and Taholah will want to plan extra travel time.

Contractor crews working for the Washington State Department of Transportation will reduce the highway to one lane between milepost 36 and 37.

What to expect

8 a.m. to 7 p.m., weekdays, Monday, Aug. 4 through Friday, Aug. 15:

  • Flaggers will alternate travelers one direction at a time.

  • Add 15 minutes of travel time to help prevent delays.

The lane reduction allows crews to perform preliminary work for a fish passage project. Crews will take soil samples to gather information for design of the proposed bridge structures. The structures will replace outdated culverts under the highway.

The work is part of a larger effort to remove barriers to fish under SR 109 and US 101.

Whenever near work zones please:

  • Slow down – drive the posted speeds for worker and traveler safety.

  • Be kind – workers are out there helping to keep people safe and improve the roadways.

  • Pay attention – both to workers directing travelers and surrounding traffic.

  • Stay calm – expect delays, leave early or take alternate routes if possible; no meeting or appointment is worth risking someone’s life.
