On June 6th, 2023 at 3:38 PM Grays Harbor County deputies were dispatched to the area of SR 105 and Newskah Road for a report of a display of a firearm. The reporting party called Grays Harbor 9-1-1 dispatch and advised that the suspect pointed a gun at him and threatened to kill him while driving down the roadway. The reporting party turned onto Newskah Road from SR 105 and was followed by the suspect.

Several deputies responded to the scene, along with several officers from the Aberdeen Police Department. They were able to locate the suspect vehicle on a gravel road in the area. An Aberdeen officer deployed their department drone from a safe distance from the suspect vehicle and was able to safely determine that the vehicle was unoccupied.

Deputy McKechnie and K9 Titus began tracking the suspects scent from the vehicle into a wooded area. K9 Titus located the suspect hiding in some thick brush. Because the suspect was possibly armed, deputies and officers from the Aberdeen Police Department surrounded the suspect and began negotiating with him for his surrender. After nearly an hour of negotiating with the suspect, he surrendered and was taken into custody.

The suspect was identified as a 28-year-old Aberdeen man. He was booked into the jail for Unlawful Possession of a Firearm. He will also be facing Felony Harassment and Assault 2nd degree charges.
