Ocean Shores Clears Out Homeless Encampments

The ocean Shores Police Department says that they cleared out several encampments in several locations that were in the dunes of local beaches. 

On November 14, 2024, The Ocean Shores Police Department served several encampments in the Ocean Shores Dunes with a Notice to Vacate and remove property. The notice gave everyone one week to vacate with their property. At the time of the notice, all individuals contacted were offered resource assistance and all declined at that time.

On November 21, 2024, The Ocean Shores Police Department contacted individuals and advised they need to vacate the Dunes due to the Dunes Protection Act. They were given time to gather their property and leave the area.

After everyone was out of the dunes the Ocean Shores Public Works Department came in and removed the massive amount of garbage and debris left behind in the encampments. The approximate amount of trash and debris was 57 cubic yards worth.

After the occupants vacated the dunes, all individuals contacted were again given the opportunity receive housing assistance through other agencies but declined any sort of support.
