Two female mushroom pickers 30 and 42 years of age  went mushroom picking near the 3100 block of East Hoquiam Rd on Friday the 12tharound 1330 hours.  While in the timber, they got turned around and lost their way.  Both subjects spent the next 3 nights and days trying to find their way back to their vehicle.  On Monday (15th), sometime around 1000 hours, One female injured her ankle and was unable to continue.  The other female continued walking and later made her way out of the timber.  She contacted a resident on Greenwood Rd who called 911 around 1730 hours.  K9 teams from Pierce co and a drone team from south beach fire responded to assist with the search that night but were unsuccessful in locating the missing mushroom picker  The search continued into Tuesday and Wednesday with assistance from:

On Wednesday morning, Quinault ground searchers located the missing 30 year old female in a gully, huddled up under a blown down trees root system.  The area the female was located was approximately 2 miles into the timber from the end of Greenwood Rd.  She was hypothermic (cold and wet) and possibly has a sprained ankle.  She was escorted out of the timber to a waiting ambulance and then transported to the hospital for an evaluation.   

FORKS, Wash. – The Coast Guard aided the rescue of 10 people and four children Monday from a flooding residential area near Forks.

At approximately 8 a.m., Clallam County first responders requested Coast Guard air assistance to evacuate the residential area due to rising flood-waters and excessive currents which prevented the use of swift water boats.

An MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station Port Angeles arrived on scene at 9:40 a.m. and deployed a rescue swimmer to search multiple residences. No persons were found during these initial searches, and the air crew departed the scene to refuel at Quillayute Airport.

The Washington State Patrol says in a small report that a 2003 Suzuki Aerio had been traveling northbound on US 101 near Milepost 105 north of Hoquiam Friday evening at 9:09pm  when the driver a 25-year-old Aberdeen woman swerved to avoid a deer, went off the roadway and hit a power pole.  

The driver was not injured, however a 19-year-old Hoquiam woman (passenger) was airlifted from the scene to Harborview Seattle for her injuries.  A 5-year-old (properly restrained) child was also in the vehicle not injured. 

Charges are wheels off the roadway.  

 

The Washington State Patrol says that the driver of a vehicle struck in a collision in Mason County on US 101 at Cloquallum Road died at the scene and 3 others 2 of which were children of the same vehicle were transported to hospitals for injuries. 

The collision occurred on November 9th at 3:07pm when 2 vehicles traveling northbound on US 101 at Cloquallum Road.  A 2013 Volkswagen Beetle driven by a 40-year-old Seaside Oregon woman (WSP Corrected), and a 1998 Subaru Legacy driven by a 60-year-old Shelton man stopped for traffic.  A 2017 Nissan Murano driven by a 56-year-old Shelton woman struck the VW Beetle in return the Beetle struck the Subaru Legacy. 

A passenger in the VW Beetle, a 43-year-old Buckeye Arizona man (WSP Corrected) was deceased at the scene, the 40-year-old Seaside woman and 2 children ages 5 and 7 were transported to various hospitals for their injuries.  St Peters, and Mary Bridge Hospital. In The driver of the Subaru was not injured. 

Cause of the collision is still under investigation.
