While the cause of the collision is still under investigation, the Washington State Patrol has confirmed that a 27-year-old Elma woman was killed in an incident that occurred at 9:30 Friday morning, June 24th.  

The collision occurred on westbound State Route 8 at milepost 3 just east of the rest area.  The motorcycle rider on a red Honda CBR600 was traveling in the slow lane (lane one of two) westbound on State Route 8, struck the guardrail on the right shoulder and was ejected from the motorcycle.  The rider was thrown onto the roadway and then was struck by a Ford F150 driven by a 69-year-old Olympia man.  

Due to the incident just clearing, we will not be releasing the name of the motorcycle rider, but looking at social media posts, the motorcycle rider just got the Honda CBR600 just less than 24 hours ago. 

The roadway was blocked for investigation for 4 hours.  

The Washington State Patrol says that a 39-year-old Tokeland Woman was killed in a rollover collision Sunday night, June 19th, 2022 around 11:30 PM.

They say that the rollover collision was caused by high speeds, and the driver losing control.  The Tokeland woman was traveling northbound on State Route 105 at milepost 21 in Pacific County at a high rate of speed.  She left the roadway to the left, rolled several times coming to rest 100 feet off the roadway. The driver was not wearing a seatbelt, and it is unknown if any drugs or alcohol were involved.  

 

Washington State Patrol says that a fleeing driver ran a stop sign in Montesano while trying to elude police Thursday evening, T-boning one vehicle and crashing into a 3rd, a parked unoccupied vehicle. 

According to radio traffic, several complaints had been made on the offending driver about his driving, erratic lane travel and high speeds.  Troopers were authorized to pursue the vehicle starting in McCleary.  As the vehicle approached Montesano, it took the exit at high speeds and through town.  

According to WSP the fleeing vehicle a 2000 Honda CRV ran a stop sign at Spruce and 3rd St. colliding with a 2002 Toyota Sequoia driven by a 68-year-old Seattle man.  The CRV then struck a parked vehicle unoccupied, a silver 2001 Honda CRV. 

The Seattle driver of the Sequioa was transported to Community Hospital for his injuries. 

The fleeing suspect, Cougan Wright a 32-year-old Shelton man was transported to Community Hospital for his injuries. 

Radio traffic indicated that the fleeing vehicle was stolen out of Port Orchard. And Wright is being charged with Eluding and Vehicular Assault. The report also goes to state that the driver was DUI. 

 

 

Washington State Patrol says that a 36-year-old Seattle man sustained serious injuries after a collision while riding his motorcycle at a high-speed rate on Saturday afternoon on State Route 107 4 miles south of Montesano. 

The incident occurred at 1:00 pm on State Route 12 near the Brady scales when a red and black motorcycle had been reported westbound State Route 12 near Montesano at a high rate of speed.  The motorcycle had passed a county deputy at speeds over 100 MPH.  He was then observed by multiple other officers going at speeds at least 130 MPH and took the State Route 107 exit traveling south towards US 101. 

No law enforcement agencies attempted to pursue the motorcycle (current laws do not allow officers to do so). 

At 1:04 PM a motorcycle collision was reported on southbound State Route 107 near milepost 4. Law enforcement officers confirmed the motorcycle and rider involved in the collision was the same as reported and observed on state route 12. 

The rider was transported to Summit Pacific in Elma, where fire crews had already requested Airlift to Tacoma General for his injuries.  

The cause of the collision was determined to have been caused by excessive speed, and he is being charged with eluding and reckless driving.
