The Washington State Patrol says that 2 Aberdeen men were killed Wednesday night in a traffic collision on State Route 12 and the Wynoochee Bridge. 

The collision occurred on Wednesday, November 3rd, 2021  at 553pm when a Blue 2003 Ford F250 black 2015 towing a Bigt Dump truck (WSP description) driven by a 29-year-old Longview woman was traveling eastbound on 12 on the Wynoochee and lost control of a trailer resulting in the trailer being in the westbound lanes of the bridge. The trailer struck 2 vehicles that were on the bridge traveling westbound.  The two vehicles were a 2019 Kia Sorento Silver in color driven by a  41-year-old Aberdeen man and a green 1994 Nissan Pathfinder driven by a 33-year-old Aberdeen man. 

Both drivers of the westbound vehicles (vehicle 2 and 3) were killed in the collision.  A passenger in the Pathfinder, a 51-year-old Aberdeen man was transported to Community Hospital for his injuries. A 26-year-old passenger in the causing vehicle of Longview was also transported to Community Hospital for injuries.  The driver of the causing vehicle and another passenger a 46-year-old Kelso man was not injured nor transported. 

The cause of the collision is under investigation - the report states that there were no drugs or alcohol involved. 

 

On October 26, 2021 at approximately 0900 hours, Hoquiam officers were dispatched to a possible DUI leaving a gas station in the 2600-block of Simpson Ave. As officers checked the area, they located the described pick-up had been involved in a collision in the 2700-block alley between Queets and Cherry Street.

The Washington State Patrol says that the cause of a collision on US 101 north of Hoquiam in Humptulips on Wednesday morning is still under investigation.  

Investigators have confirmed that 3 local men were killed in the incident ages 51, 40 and 30. 

The Collision occurred on 10/20/2021 07:19:33 when a  2022 Kenworth Log truck driven by a 19-year-old Forks man had been traveling southbound on US 101 near milemarker 111 north of the Humptulips River when it crossed trhe center line and began to overturn and struck a 2000 white Nissan Extera driven by a 51-year-old Aberdeen man with a 30-year-old Aberdeen man and 40-year-old Hoquiam man as passengers. 

According to radio traffic the log truck then rolled spilling its logs onto the road way.  

All 3 in the Extera were deceased at the scene. 

The roadway was blocked for 11 hours and 45 minutes. 

 

The Washington State Patrol says that distracted driving was the cause of a fatality collision Monday evening on State Route 12 just before the Rochester High School on State Route 12. 

The collision occurred on October 18th at 6:43 PM on State Route 12 and Huntington St in Rochester.  

A 1996 Toyota Corolla driven by a 42-year-old Rochester woman was traveling westbound on State Route 12 and slowed to make a left hand turn onto southbound Huntington when she was struck by a 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt driven by a 16-year-old Rochester teen from behind. The Corolla rotated counterclockwise and struck vehicle a vehicle traveling eastbound on 12, a 2013 Honda CRV driven by a 35-year-old Rochester man. All 3 vehicles ended in the eastbound lanes of SR 12in the roadway blocking traffic for one hour and forty-two minutes. 

The 42-year-old Rochester woman was transported to a local hospital (not mentioned) where she later died.  No other involved parties were injured. 

The Washington State Patrol report does not indicate what the distraction was, whether cell phone use, dog on the side of the road, other traffic etc... No chargers were filed against the 16 year old at this time. 

 

The Washington State Patrol Chief John R Batiste says their agency lost 127 employees across the state after the State-wide mandate to be vaccinated took effect, the deadline being October 18th. 

You could hear final sign-offs from State Toppers across the state including Grays Harbor.  GHS Admins could hear the dispatchers tears and sadness as each trooper signed off. 

Dispatchers and staff from not only WSP but other agencies in shock in a time when filling law enforcement positions is already critical.
